Some Progress

So, the move went successfully.
Well, mostly successfully. The biggest problem was that the box spring wouldn't fit up the stairs... not the end of the world, but four days of sleeping on a mattress on the floor makes for a cranky Ann. But yesterday, heaven arrived in the form of a queen box spring, and the bedroom actually looks like a real bedroom now!

That's a brand-new bed, with a cushy leather headboard for propped-up reading at night. Yay! Still need to get some pictures on the walls and some nightstands, but the end-of-the-bed reading corner is done, too:

So, it's nice to have one room with no boxes, no mess. Just a happy little sleeping sanctuary. It felt so nice to sleep on a real bed last night. Sweet relief.
Oh, and to see how far that room has come, click here to see what it looked like at our walk-through. (Note: high-gloss paint in the bedroom is a BAD idea!)

I was also fortunate enough this morning to come across the box with my active knitting projects. That was delightfully serendipitous (though I still can't find the box with the rest of my shoes). So, I packed up a bag and will be seeking refuge from my war-zone living room at Knit Happens tonight. Yay!

Move. Prep. Ugh.

So...

there has been knitting, but no photos. And we're deep into packing-moving territory now, so the knitting is going on hiatus for a week or two. The good news is that I have all but one sleeve of the baby sweater done, so it should be easy to finish, once we start to get settled.

Stay tuned for house progress pics, probably early next week. I've been a painting fiend! And a special shout-out to Erin, who came over on Saturday and was a sanding and priming fiend:

go erin, go erin...

Thanks Erin!!

Two-Top

Sidelined by a cold late last week, I was unable to do much of anything except lay on the couch, watch movies* and knit. I'm feeling better now, but for the better part of 48 hours, I was pretty worthless.

Luckily, that translated into good knitting progress. Look, I finished the front of the Sunrise sweater:

I really like the seed stitch edging around the hem and the V-neck:

But am a little concerned with the way the middle of the V "pulls"... does anyone have any suggestions for how to better stabilize those center stitches?

I also started something new, for yet another friend having a baby boy. While I was at Late Night on Wednesday, Holly, 4-ply Katie and Nickie all talked me out of attempting a baby blanket that has to be done in four weeks since I have to move at the same time. Instead, they helped me settle on this pattern, for a baby boatneck sweater, from the Debbie Bliss Baby Knits for Beginners book:

And then they helped me pick out a color, since I was my normal color-impaired self. Thanks ladies, for helping me settle on a lovely blue shade of cashmerino aran. And look, the front (or back!) just practically knit itself up:

In other news, I finally got around to photographing my great purchases from Kansas last week. I didn't get much, but tried to only get stuff I haven't seen around here. I picked up a huge hank (1200 yards) of this gorgeous silver laceweight merino:

and then three skeins of Lush in a color I haven't seen before. From far away, it looks like a plummy brown, but up close, it has this incredibly vibrant heather action going on:

I think it will become a scarf, for me.
And let's not forget the final Jilly scarf, all done and blocked out!

I can't decide if I want to keep this or gift it. It's so soft!

* Movies watched: Beyond the Sea (C-), Napoleon Dynamite (C+), Run Lola Run (B), Fever Pitch (A-) ... not to mention an episode of Oprah and a couple episodes of old-school, first-season 24.

Quick Notes...

I can barely catch my breath these days, so much to do. Last night all of the activities of the weekend caught up with me, and after I almost fell asleep at dinner, the boyfriend put me to bed about 8:30. Hi, I'm old? Oh well. Today I'm rested.

The weekend was good, though I captured no pictures! (Forgot to take the camera along. D'oh.) So I'll have to wait until the wedding photos are posted to show off the garter. The garter turned out lovely, btw. Yay.

The wedding was fun too -- married off yet another friend, in a lovely ceremony in a quaint little chapel. Got to hang out with a group of friends who hadn't all been in the same room for about 5 years, so that was nice. One of them just had a baby boy, who is now the proud owner of the diamond baby blanket. I have to say, the look of appreciation on the parents' faces made me completely forget about how long it took to finish that blanket. Just warmed my heart.

I did pop into the Yarn Barn, and picked up some great silver laceweight merino and some Lush for a scarf. Pics to come later.

No knitting to speak of, except that I finished the orange-and-brown scarf and started the back of Sunrise.

Now we're in full-on pack-and-plan mode for the move. There's so much to do in the next week! I hope to make it to late night tonight, but I may have to run around and do other (not as relaxing) stuff. Fingers crossed!
