February 10, 2006TwoFOFirst things first: Anyone have any tips on making hair grow faster? My stylist got a little scissor-happy yesterday. A good cut--just about 3" shorter than expected. What are the odds that my hair will grow 3" in 3 months so it will look good in wedding pics? Okay, now onto the good news: I have not one but two finished objects! First up, the photographic proof of completion of the Go With the Flow socks:
Pattern: Go With the Flow socks by Evelyn A. Clark Next up, the project that is only getting presented as a finished object:
Pattern: Coronet by Alexandra Virgel The construction technique was new to me. You knit the cabled band and then graft the ends together. I was pretty nervous about this, but it turned out only slightly wonky:
Then, you pick up the stitches for the hat from the wrong side of the cabled band, so that when it flips up, the band's integrity is maintained and you can't see where the stitches were picked up. This was less daunting than I thought. I would make this hat again in a heartbeat. Still on the needles is the windowpane scarf for JT, but I got a ton done yesterday en route to Baltimore for the first performance of the Stoop Storytelling series. [Fantastic!] I'm down to the final 10 inches, which is truly the homestretch. I can start thinking about what to knit next! Posted by Ann at February 10, 2006 08:01 AMComments
I love that colorway! So fallish! The hat looks great and gave me a great idea for the spare balls of that yarn I have in my stash! Posted by: Stacey at February 10, 2006 08:06 AMLOVE the socks! The colorway and the pattern are lovely. Great job, Ann! Coronet has been on my list for ages - it seems like a perfect stash buster too. You probably passed my place en route to B'more yesterday ;) Posted by: Lolly at February 10, 2006 10:40 AMLove the hat! And I love the yarn you used, so I can just imagine how soft and cozy it is. I'll have to take a trip over to Knitty to grab the pattern. Don't worry about the hair. Just wear a HUGE, sparkly tiara on your wedding day and no one will even notice the hair ;-) Posted by: Niki at February 10, 2006 05:21 PMGreat looking sox! That's a fun thing to wear, and so is the hat. And today is the perfect day for you to try it out, with all the snow you have. But you are welcome to it; we in the Midwest can live without it. We would very much like to have some rain, however, to discourage the fires. Posted by: jean at February 12, 2006 01:58 PMLove the Hat-- I'm gonna have to make it for next year. And the socks are pretty wonderful, too. Posted by: LauraRN at February 12, 2006 05:16 PM |
