November 09, 2005Er. Um.I'm still here, really I am. Just a little off my rocker with everything that's going on right now. I feel like I should apologize for anyone who still reads this. I promise a normal knitting-posting-schedule will resume in early 2006. Bear with me! Work is crazy-busy, but in a good way. The house is still a mess, but hey, it's still a house! So that's exciting, though I did pretty much lose my mind last week about all the boxes everywhere. Most of those boxes have since been relocated to the basement, out of sight. We've been slow to unpack because we don't yet posess all the storage systems we need, though it's certainly not for lack of trying. I've been a superconsumer at places like Container Store as of late, and apparently I hit some magic purchase amount at Linens N Things and they gave me a huge discount on my whole order. [Why didn't they tell me that beforehand? I would've added the Nate Berkus mirror and placemats to compensate. The boyfriend and I are both loving Nate Berkus these days, I'll tell you that. Good stuff.] The good news is that we now own almost all of the decor that we need... so maybe this weekend we'll put up the curtains, and the shelves, and the artwork. I'm pretty sure that the neighbors by now are concerned about "the new people with sheets hanging in all the windows." Living in a state of chaos is kind of funny. It leads to funny things being said, like: * "Where are the coffee filters?" "I dunno. Aren't they with the coffee?" "No." "Hmmm. Did you check with the paper plates?" "Hmm. Where are those again?" * "We have to find the box with the towels this weekend. Mine's getting stinky." * "If I were an allen wrench, where would I be?" [this is particularly appalling since we've acquired about 5 new ones in the last 3 weeks] And of course, it leads to some minor trauma, like: * Hechts holding our living room hostage -- the furniture that was scheduled for an October delivery is nowhere to be seen. The guy called me and said they hope to have it by mid-December, but "if you need it for Christmas, you might want to try someplace else." Ummmm... gee. I'm awfully glad we believed you when you said October and sold our other couch! * Being excited about having a new, non-grimy toaster oven. Pulling it out of the box, ready for toast... and realizing it does not fit on the countertop. Where does the toaster go? Still under discussion. * Really wanting to go to yoga... and not knowing where the yoga mat (or yoga pants) are. But, don't take this as complaining. It's a little adventure, and it's totally worth it. Oh, and the knitting. The knitting has been seriously on hold... I was hoping to knit a few rows on the last sleeve of the baby sweater last night, but I got home from work at 10 and was asleep by 11... so that didn't happen. Maybe tonight, or tomorrow night. I need to finish it by Friday so it can block overnight Friday night... and then get seamed up Saturday morning. The baby shower is on Saturday afternoon! Wish me luck. (Maybe I'll be seaming at the happy place on Saturday morning?!) It also dawned on me that we leave for Hawaii in a week... packing will be interesting, since I don't know where anything is... and also, I have to find some knitting to take along! I was suckered in by Webs' sale on Rowanspun Aran and finally bought the yarn to make Demi (in Shark). And maybe I'll finish some of the other little things I've been noodling on. One question..can you order Nate Berkus?! ha ha You might be suckering me into ordering that Rowan aran. I love that pattern you chose and the color. I can blame it on you if I buy some, right?! Posted by: Donna at November 9, 2005 11:01 AMOh, you are going to Hawaii? *lucky* I was just there and I wanna go back really bad. Which island are you going to? That demi pullover is going to be awesome. I love that design. Take care, Ann~my blog has had very little knitting content lately. ;) Posted by: Lolly at November 9, 2005 01:36 PMYou have just articulated why moving is annoying, especially the packing challenge. I hope i can find my knitting tonight to take to Mexico! Posted by: Allison at November 9, 2005 03:05 PM |
