September 14, 2005Happy HomeBack from vacation, a lot more freckled and a little more blond, still marveling at how nice it is to get a full night's sleep every night for a week and eat a hearty breakfast every morning. I'd get up and help with the coffee or the cooking -- unbelievable, but in our group of 11 we managed to eat the first and last meals every day together, around a big wonderful dining table. And the kitchen was big enough to get about 6 people cooking in it.
And in the end, I didn't get a ton of knitting done. I did turn that Brooks Farm into the back of a sweater, the "Not-Your-Standard-Issue Sweatshirt" from Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits. (Can't find a picture of this anywhere online, but it's a pretty basic loose sweater with seed-stitch edging and a hood.) I added waist shaping similar to that on the Frimas sweater I made in the winter.
I also did a lot of knitting on the sock... it's not completely done, so no pictures, but I can say that the heel is turned and I am just about ready for the toe shaping. That'll be tonight's project at late night. And, in super-happy news, the house purchase is now complete. We don't move in for a month, but soon I'll be living here, with a cute-as-can be street address of 123. Happy house!
