Happy Home

Back from vacation, a lot more freckled and a little more blond, still marveling at how nice it is to get a full night's sleep every night for a week and eat a hearty breakfast every morning. I'd get up and help with the coffee or the cooking -- unbelievable, but in our group of 11 we managed to eat the first and last meals every day together, around a big wonderful dining table. And the kitchen was big enough to get about 6 people cooking in it.

Then I'd retire to the top oceanside deck (we named it the Sunrise Deck) and knit for an hour or two while I waited for my food to settle. This is the view I had:

ahhh, serenity

And in the afternoon, we'd head to the beach or to our private pool. Around 7, we'd start preparing for dinner, and after dinner there was card-playing and game-playing and somewhere along the way, we managed to watch Anchorman about 5 times and the entire first season of Arrested Development. [Holy smokes, that show makes me laugh.]

And in the end, I didn't get a ton of knitting done. I did turn that Brooks Farm into the back of a sweater, the "Not-Your-Standard-Issue Sweatshirt" from Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits. (Can't find a picture of this anywhere online, but it's a pretty basic loose sweater with seed-stitch edging and a hood.) I added waist shaping similar to that on the Frimas sweater I made in the winter.

And, because it began on the Sunrise Deck, and the colors are glorious shades of copper, salmon, rose, peach, orange, and gold [in other words, colors that refuse to be photographed well], I shall call it Sunrise.

I also did a lot of knitting on the sock... it's not completely done, so no pictures, but I can say that the heel is turned and I am just about ready for the toe shaping. That'll be tonight's project at late night.

And, in super-happy news, the house purchase is now complete. We don't move in for a month, but soon I'll be living here, with a cute-as-can be street address of 123. Happy house!

happy house!

Happy house indeed. I love brick! Home ownership is a good feeling, I've been doing it since last Friday myself.
