May 23, 2005Weekend Highlights* Catching up on much-needed sleep. Who cares if I didn't see a "morning"? * Spending part of Saturday afternoon at Knit Happens, chattering away with Holly and Shanti and Rosanna and Kelly. * Knitting on Truelove with Cashcotton. [see below for more details about this little swatch o'heaven.] It's SO nice on the hands, you don't even notice how much progress you're making! All of a sudden, you look down, and there's a finished back... and a good chunk of the front!
* Finally, resolving to weave in the ends on the Rebecca cardi. And actually following through.
I love this cardi, but found it hard to get a good photo. I clearly need to go shopping to find a better pair of pants or skirt to go with it... I'm not wild about it with the skirt in this photo. [but note the matching sandals!]
* Seeing Ryan Adams perform for 2.5 hours on Saturday night. Omigosh that was amazing! [And I have a real soft spot for artists who end the night on a high note and eschew the charade of encores.] * Taking an 8-mile walk through the city, enjoying the slice of spring that has FINALLY come to Washington. * Season finale of Deadwood. I'm ready for the next season already!
Since I couldn't remember in my last entry: It turns out that I am using CashCotton for the baby sweater -- color 901 "Sugar." [Sugar is pink?] Anyway, the yarn is total heaven. And seems I'm not the only one who thinks so. Knitting Wench says she is in "passionate love" with the yarn -- she's making Deli. And Sharlyn says it's the "yarn of my dreams" -- she's making a wrap cardi. Those are some strong statements from some experienced knitters, folks. Comments
Your Rebecca cardi looks amazing! I think it looks great with the skirt in the photo, and the matching sandals - perfect. The color you used is just gorgeous. I find it really difficult to wear mine, so if you discover a great pant/skirt style to pair it with, please let me know! Posted by: Diana at May 23, 2005 08:17 AMOh am I jealous of you being in the same room with Ryan Adams! And the Rebecca wrap has perhaps sealed the deal for me to make one too ~ yours is lovely. Posted by: maggi at May 23, 2005 09:58 AMThe cardie looks fabulous, you did a wonderful job! Posted by: Brenda at May 23, 2005 10:12 AMCongrats on finding the resolve to finish the cardi! Sometimes those last few steps are just too much... It looks great and it should be perfect for the weather over the next few weeks. Posted by: Anmiryam at May 23, 2005 11:11 AMOh, it was a nice weekend, wasn't it? The sky was so blue and pretty, and not too hot. I love it like this! Glad you were able to enjoy it. Your Rebecca cardi is BEAUTIFUL! I love that you chose red for it.... it looks wonderful on you (and I like the new outfit + shoes!) Take care! Posted by: Lolly at May 23, 2005 01:28 PMI love, love, love your Rebecca wrap and I think the whole outfit looks great. I so wish I could wear that color you made it out of. Perfect. Um...mine has been sitting around here without an ounce of work on it still. Oh and Deadwood. I thought Jeff and I were the only fans. Posted by: Shelley at May 23, 2005 04:28 PMRebecca is charming on you-- good job!!! Posted by: LauraRN at May 23, 2005 06:03 PMYour Rebecca cardi is Fabulous!!! Love the color, and especially the matching shoes ;-) Posted by: Shelby at May 24, 2005 05:47 AMI am totally loving the orange!! Have fun shopping - Maybe it would look good with a cute sundress? You should have no problems; orange (along with green) is apparently one of the "hot" colors this spring. I love the color you chose for the Rebecca sweater. It looks brilliant on you! Posted by: Michelle at May 24, 2005 09:45 AMHow totally cute is that wrap on you? Super cute! Thanks for sharing pictures of it. It really is a great look for spring/summer. Posted by: Jennifer at May 24, 2005 10:59 AMThat wrap cardi is too awesome... It looks great on you! All those props for cashcotton have me practically drooling on the keyboard. :P Posted by: chelsea at May 24, 2005 05:16 PMYour sweater looks fabulous! And I think it looks great with the skirt. I actually thought that when I saw the pic before I read your blog. I laughed when you said you weren't sure about it. Everyone's tastes are different! Posted by: Allison at May 24, 2005 05:29 PMYour sweater is really pretty! I like the color and it really looks good on you. With the cold weather we're having you can even wear it until June, probably. :) Posted by: kerry at May 24, 2005 09:37 PMOh, good grief. We all need to talk to each other more about things other than knitting. Given Shelley's comment above, that makes you, me, Rossana, and Shelley who all watch Deadwood. Loved the season finale. Good thing SFU starts up in another couple weeks to help me through the withdrawal. Posted by: Carol at May 25, 2005 07:00 AM |
