March 24, 2005New Sweater Day!The wait is over. Here's the all-done, fully finished Frimas sweater!
I wore it to work yesterday, and I love it! Of course, that meant I wore it to late night last night. Here's me in the shop (which will have to suffice since there was nothing resembling sun anywhere near Washington yesterday).
Pattern: Cover sweater from Phildar Automne 03/04 Comments: I love this sweater! Alison expressed her love for hers last month, and I heartily concur. It's very comfortable, and fits me perfectly. I love the minor shaping at the waist, and the way that the sleeves are loose but not bell-shaped. I had my concerns about the plunging V-neck, but they went away when I started trying it on with things under it. Yesterday was just an oxford; I think it would also look cute with a lacy cami. I have two [very tiny] concerns about this sweater, going forward. One is that the yarn (I used what was called for) is 80% acrylic/20% wool, and I'm nervous about how it'll wear. But it knit up pretty well, and so far, so good. I'll file that one under "cross fingers and hope for the best." I do absolutely love the color and the tweedy bits in it. My other concern is that the neckline may be a little loose, even for my football-player shoulders. At late night, Katie suggested adding a single crochet along the back neck seam for stability; I may do that. Yesterday I did notice that one shoulder had a propensity to sort of slide around and threaten to get all flashdance on me. I'm sure it's because I slouch, but I'd like to avoid it if possible. I think that the shirt underneath helped hold it in place; a cami might be a little more treacherous on that front. But, none of that should detract from how much I love this sweater. It's the sort of experience where just putting the finished product on makes you instantly forget that you just knit a stockinette sweater on US4s. I predict it'll get a lot of wear. What did I learn? Well, I did a much better job of seaming this on than Audrey. [I had to redo the Audrey seams about a million times.] This one, I took a deep breath, made myself a drink and sat and seamed for two full nights. I used mattress stitch on the whole thing, and am really proud at the way my seams don't show. Click here to see my seamalicious work! But that's not all. Turned out it was an impromptu New Sweater Day yesterday! Holly was wearing her gorgeous new cowl neck. Ignore the fact that are faces are overexposed [and I did a bad job of trying to fix them] in the picture below. You really just want to see the sweaters, right?

You bad-ass knitter! :) Posted by: Erin at March 24, 2005 10:48 AMWhat a cool sweater! Looks great! The way it drapes is soooo nice.. Are there extra decreases around the v neck to make it do that, or is it the drape of the yarn?
