Snow Knitting

Three inches of powder in Washington: Just enough to really screw things up. Like enough to keep me from taking a road trip to Philly to see my team play. [They lost: grrrrrrrr.] So, save for a few walks to the movie theater [In Good Company: Thumbs-up] and the grocery store [Safeway: Hooray for having milk, bananas and fresh flowers the day after it snowed], I stayed inside, all hunkered down.

The football games yesterday [Go Eagles!] yielded this:

back it up!

That's half of a back to the tweedy Frimas sweater. I've gotten through all the waist shaping and have about 4 inches to go before I start the sleeve shaping. I'm starting to get tired of all the stockinette, but I really am liking the way it's looking, so that's good incentive to keep going. And my tension seems to be pretty even, so that's good.

In keeping with my make-a-lot-of-scarves theme this winter, I finished the red one:

scarfalicious!

I love it! It's so snuggly and soft. It's La Gran mohair held with a Katia ribbon. I don't wear bright colors much, so this is a great accessory for me. I wore it to work on Friday to rave reviews. Sure, it's just a garter scarf, but I don't care... the shimmer of the ribbon just makes me smile.

shimmery goodness

I also started another scarf, but I'm not far enough on it to really show any progress. [And last night, the boyfriend noticed another ball band on the coffee table, and quickly accosted me: Did you start *another* ball of yarn? Me: Yes.... Him: How many balls of yarn do you have hidden away? Me: *blink. blink. blink.* I figure, love me, love my stash. Thank god I have a big closet.][And I haven't bought anything new in several weeks, while I work through some of that stash....]

I expect the new scarf to go fairly quickly, though -- I'll show pictures soon. The boyfriend's car is dead, and since he's teaching a class this semester, he'll be borrowing mine in the near term. Metro time = knitting time!

What a beautiful scarf! It looks very soft and cozy. Tell your boyfriend it is none of his beeswax how many balls of yarn you have! Just let him know that yarn = occasional presents for him. At least that is what I tell my husband ;-)
