December 02, 2004Thrums Away!I'm settling back into a routine, and liking it. :) It felt so good to go to yoga earlier this week - my muscles had really been craving a good routine. I almost fell asleep at the end -- a sign I was really relaxed. And I've gotten back in the swing of evening knitting, pleasantly. (I doubt I was ever really out of it.) I'm chugging along on Clapotis, and last night at Knit Happens, I crossed the halfway point! Woot! That is extremely exciting. I get very excited as the end of a project nears. I think that's why I love making hats so much... one minute you're starting the crown decreases, and then in no time at all, you're done! Clapotis is a long way from starting the decreases, but the halfway point is a real milestone. Especially when it takes so long to do the increases and get up to full width, right Kristine? And after working on Clapotis at the shop, then eating some good sushi with a friend, I went home. After opening my parcel from Adagio Teas (vanilla! foxtrot! valentine! yum!), I pulled out my latest KH purchase (US 3 double-points) and cast on for Thrum Mittens. These are being done in the indubitable Highland Wool, color Lime Ice. The thrums will be the cotton-candy pink roving I got in Denver. Don't they look nice nestled next to each other?
And, as I was casting on, I had a minor flash of knitting maturity. My US3s felt just right -- not too big or too small. Now I remember when I started Latifa* that the US3s felt like toothpicks. I'm almost a little scared to do something on big needles! No, just kidding. *don't ask... maybe the ends will be woven in before 2005, maybe not

Those colors are gorgeous together!! Can't wait to see them knitted together, or thrummed together, I guess. :) I'm loving small needles too! Who knew? Posted by: Carrie at December 2, 2004 02:27 PMI LOVE your color combo for your mittens. And the picture is great as well. :) Thanks for your comment today! Posted by: Annie at December 2, 2004 04:30 PMThose mittens are going to be gorgeous - I have winter envy! It never gets cold enough here for mittens. Hold on! does that really matter? Posted by: sally at December 2, 2004 04:49 PMYES. Long......increasing away! Posted by: Kristine at December 2, 2004 09:11 PMThanks for your for your sweet comment today. I'm lovin' the colors you're using for the mittens. Pink and green are such a natural combination... I also went through your site looking at your Latifa progress. It's soooo pretty! So the ruffles came from 1 skein? I gotta make that! Posted by: MJ at December 3, 2004 12:10 PMOoooooh! Look at that roving! So pretty. Posted by: Becky at December 4, 2004 01:33 AM |
