Recharged

There's no way to gloss over it: Working all weekend sucks. BUT - I do enjoy taking a weekday off. The highlights:

* Sleeping in (this was paramount, after staying out dancing Saturday night until 1 and having to be at work at 6)
* Brewing some great coffee and lingering over several cups with a newspaper on the porch, even longer than on a Sunday morning
* No line at the car wash (this is a big deal, it's almost always around the block)
* No line at the bank
* No line at the post office (do you see a theme here?)
* Taking my bus farther than normal, just to see where the route takes me, exactly
* Shopping in boutiques in the middle of the day
* Wandering over to an out-of-the-way European market
* Buying a small baguette, wonderfully briny kalamata tapenade and a salty oat cookie
* Calling the above "dinner"
* Knitting to the end on the navy scarf (pictures tomorrow)

All told, I delight so much in an uncrowded, unhurried day, it's a wonder that I live in an urban environment. But I totally love my city, and days like yesterday make it exponentially better.

Ooh, what's the out of the way European market? Sounds intriguing!
